The farm
Maison Castagné’s farm produces 3 varieties of PDO Noix du Périgord walnuts, 3 varieties of non-labeled walnuts and 6 varieties of grapes: 3 red and 3 white. Environmentally friendly, our family business grows more than 40 hectares of walnut trees according to current environmental standards.

Production of nuts
Maison Castagné has been cultivating walnuts for more than 6 generations in Martel, 3km from the city center on an area of 47ha. Since 2018, walnuts have been treated with certified organic products; the FR-BIO-01 certification was obtained in 2021. We harvest the nuts during September-October and the mill runs all winter to press the oil of our harvest but also private individuals and professionals who have walnuts and want to turn their fruits into oil.
Production of grapes
Maison Castagné has also been producing grapes since 2020, the first harvest (September). Since Martel is not part of the IGP Cahors, we planted 6 different varieties: 3 red (Malbec, Syrah and Pinot Noir) and 3 white (Chenin, Chardonnay and Roussanne).
